We understand that pets aren’t just companions; they’re like members of the family. For over 10 years we have been working with the Dogs Trust to promote Pet Friendly Lettings and always encourage our landlords that if managed properly a pet need not be a negative when considering a tenant.
One of the first things we ask prospective tenants when they are considering a property is whether or not they have a pet so that we are able to fully disclose the fact to our landlord when they make an offer. Things for landlords to consider:
We guide you through the process of considering pet-friendly rentals and ensure that you are adequately protected contractually. We vet the prospective tenants’ pet and ask for references.
- Speak to prospective tenants about their pet and ask to meet it
- Ask for a ‘reference’ from their previous landlord or their vet
- If your property is leasehold, check your lease allows pets
- Decide what types of pet and how many you’re willing to allow.
